These Krobo trade beads are a mix of recycled glass and powdered glass beads created in a time honored tradition by master bead makers in Ghana’s Eastern Region for centuries.

Powdered glass beads are typically made from bottles and other glass items that are turned into powder, then into molds in order to create this nice looking beads. Decorations on the beads are made with a paste made of colored glass powder and water, which is applied using a thin wooden stalk. Please take note: these beads are authentic vintage production, unlike modern replicas which are widely available in the market today.

These beads have moved between continents, countries and owners for decades. Imperfections are possible and only add to the character.
